Yesterday was the big #10 for Alex and I. Sometimes I can't believe it has been 10 years and other times it feels like we have been together forever. Last night we left the kids with a babysitter and went out to dinner. Through dinner we sat and reminisced about the last 10 years and all the great things that have happened in our life. It really has been a great 10 years and I wouldn't trade them for anything. As an anniversary surprise Alex wrote me a poem that I thought I would share with everyone.
Happy Anniversary Michelle, it's big number ten.
Who would have thought we would be here, when this all started back then?
Did you know that when you first fixed me dinner,
I would still be here now and feel like such a winner?
Did you know that night when you fixed me that food,
that I would never leave? I am one lucky dude.
The day you said yes, my joy you made full,
we've had many moments since then, few of them dull.
We had good times together with just you and me
but we knew it would get better if we grew our family.
So along came Dalton, our first little guy,
he cost $4,000, not a bad buy.
Ethan came next, he just wouldn't wait
you sure were screaming, but things turned out great.
Then came Anika, third to say hello,
she also was early, and flew to Pocatello.
Fenton came along to join all the rest
the delivery was fine after all the bed rest.
Griffin couldn't breathe with a hole in his diaphragm,
but after two weeks he was perfect, and able to join the rest of the fam.
Now here we are 10 years down the road,
there is a lot of work but many hands lighten the load.
Dalton is quite a gymnast, doing flips and whirls,
and he sure gets mad if we tease him about girls.
Ethan is now learning to punch and kick and read and write,
I hope he sticks to school because he really can't fight.
Anika is cuter than any girl you could witness,
and maybe one day she will be a real princess.
Fenton is so full of life, he runs and he wiggles,
he growls, he roars, he burps, laughs and giggles.
Griffin the youngest is growing so fast,
don't be too sad that babies don't last.
From St. George to Cedar to Billings and Bear Lake,
your love for me never seemed fake.
These 10 years together have been the best in my life
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You for being my wife.
I hope you're as happy with me as I am with you,
because I want to be together for an eternity or two.
Love,
Alex

That is so sweet (and funny). Congrats on 10 YEARS!!!!!
Hey Michelle - thanks so much for sharing this. I love your blog. I get all misty and giggly when I look at the pictures and the write-ups - you're so good at saying things the way they are and showing how special it all is without getting too icky-sticky. I make everyone I know look at them and laugh at how sweet/funny everything is - I just sent the link to my boss. I really feel so much closer to you all because you make the effort to share. Thank you and I hope I can learn how to do it as well as you do. I can never get over how much Alex is just sooooooo Alex. Thank you for loving him and letting him be who he is. You guys are great. Love you, Melia
