Dalton the Book Worm

Dalton is our little book worm.  It is really funny to see some of the places that he will just sit to read so we have started to take some pictures of him in these weird places.

Skiing

This last Wednesday Alex's work paid for the whole family to go skiing so we took the kids out of school for a half a day and headed up to Pine Creek.  Anika didn't want to come so she stayed in school but the boys were all really excited to give skiing a try.
Ethan had a rough start but by the end of the day had gotten the hang of it.

Fenton caught on pretty quickly and was going a little faster than I would have liked but he was loving it and knew how to stop so I geuss he can go as fast as he wants.

Dalton only spent about 30 minutes on the bunny hill before he was ready for the bigger stuff.  Turns out he is a better skier than me.  He and Alex kept waiting for me and Alex took him down one of the advanced runs on their second run. (I was to chicken)

Griffin was his usually happy self, eating snow and hanging out in the lodge.

Happy Birthday Alex

Alex opening his presents on his birthday.  The kids wrapped it in traditional Alex style.
(still in the box)
The kids can never get Alex to play the wii with them so they got him a hunting game  so now he will play with them.
Alex wanted to go and stay in a yurt for his birthday so that is what we did.  It was a cozy little yurt that had electricity and a LOU.  For some reason we didn't take any pictures of the yurt but the kids had a great time sleeping there and playing Alex's new hunting game.  They also had a really fun sledding hill.

Griffin - He really loves the snow, he will spend hours in it just eating away

Alex and Dalton also took their snowshoes and went for a hike

Melodrama

I was back stage for the performance so these are pictures from our dress rehearsal.  They are pretty acurate as far as costuming goes except for some people shoes. Alex was Dr. Philastis Hurlbut, a snake oil salesman.  His job was to tell the audience what to do in a melodrama (boo, hisss, ahhhh that kind of thing). He wrote his own part and it was one of the highlights of the show.  Ethan was Henry Honeysackle Jr. and Fenton was Harold Honeysackle.  They each had a line but most of the time just followed Mom and Dad Honeysackle around.

Dr. Philastus Hurlbut trying to get you to buy his miracle drug that will help your hair to grow. Which later in his act fell off.

It will also cure your muscular atrophy and so you will have BIG muscles. Which were then popped by a little boy with a pin.

This was Fenton through most of the rehearsals, off in his own little world.

Snow Festival

Over Presidents Day weekend we held our annual Snow Festival in Montpelier.  On Friday night we preformed an old fashioned melodrama.  Ethan, Fenton and Alex were in it.  It was a lot of fun.  For some reason it is not letting me upload the pictures from that but I will keep trying.  On Saturday we had a snow sculpture contest.  This year we decided to make a Monster Truck.  The kids didn't help much but I think Alex did a great job and we took 3rd place.

Sledding

We finally got a really good snow storm this last weekend so some friends of ours brought their snowmoblie over and pulled the kids around in the back field.  The kids had a great time!

Anika the Cheerleader

This fall Anika started Cheerleading.  She wasn't too excited about it when she first started but I am helping with the team so I made her do it. Once they got their uniforms and started to perform she has decided that it is pretty fun.  They have only performed at a few of the city league basketball games and this next weekend they will be performing a half-time routine for a JV basketball game.  Their coach hopes to get them into some competitions this summer.
